High School in Canada

Public international secondary schools in Canada are secular, publicly funded institutions overseen by each provincial government’s Ministry of Education. Within local school districts, these schools are governed by the local public school boards and are an integral part of their communities.

Many public secondary schools in Canada actively recruit international students from all over the globe. Public schools offer the advantage of studying alongside the broadest section of Canadian society: 92% of Canadian youth are enrolled in the public school system.

The main language of instruction in Canadian public secondary schools is English, except in Québec, where the main language is French. French Immersion is available in many English-language public school districts, as well as English as a second language (ESL) and French as a second language (FSL) training and also courses in other languages (like Spanish, German, Ukrainian and more). Available courses and curricula will vary somewhat from school to school, but all public secondary schools conform to a set of government standards.

Public international secondary schools are one of the most economical options for international students; since public education is free for residents of the province, and tuition for international students is correspondingly lower than the private institutions, ranging from $12,000 – $14,000 CAD for a ten-month study period. Some public secondary schools have dormitories, and many have arrangements for homestay families, providing another level of Canadian experience for international students.

The Canada Edu Centre provides professional support to students. We have cooperation with many high schools in Canada. The following are just a few of them.
